The National Agency for Cancer Registration (NACR) collects data on all cancer, pre-cancerous tumours and certain benign tumours diagnosed in Switzerland. These data are collected in the cantonal cancer registries and in the National Childhood Cancer Registry (ChCR). The collection of data serves to monitor the development of cancer, to develop and review prevention and screening measures, to evaluate the quality of care, diagnosis and treatment, and to support care planning and research.

Information on data processing and data use within the framework of the Cancer Registration Act can also be found on the website of the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH).
